Glenkinchie Malt Whisky Distillery

Copper Stills

With the kind permission of Diageo and all of the team at Glenkinchie in East Lothian, James enjoyed an exclusive visit today to photograph one of the finest distilleries in Scotland.

Glenkinchie, the home of “The Edinburgh Malt” houses an excellent visitor exhibition in the listed red brick buildings. From the beautiful copper stills where the spirit is born, to the equally beautiful cobwebs in the warehouse where whisky matures for decades, photographic opportunities are enormous.

James was very appreciative of the welcoming and friendly assistance of all the staff who, at the end of the day, gifted him with the little dram glass that was used in many of the shots taken. See if you can spot it in some of the Commercial Gallery images.

Dance Ihayami at Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Tuesday, 18 August 2009 00:00

On StageA big thank you from James to all the team at Dance Ihayami for the exclusive invitation to photograph their stunning new production, “3 Thrayaa” at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Dance Ihayami is the first cross-cultural professional company of its kind in Scotland, dedicated to the art of Indian dance and its rich complexity.

Stage photography can be very challenging, with tricky lighting and low shutter speeds blurring the action – so grabbing several shots that captured the essence of the show was really rewarding. You can view a few in the Events Gallery.

Check out the company’s website at www.danceihayami.org for more information.

Homecoming Scotland Gathering
Saturday, 25 July 2009 00:00

A great day for Event photography as the sun shone and tens of thousands gathered in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park as part of Homecoming Scotland 2009. Clansmen and women from around the world celebrated by watching world class athletes in Highland Games, pipers, dancers and live stage performances by international artists.

As it was such a large and prestigious event, it was a great opportunity to mingle with other professional photographers from both the press and freelance communities. This type of networking always pays big dividends and it’s particularly amazing to see how the press guys, who are operating in a hugely competitive environment, work together in a spirit of genuine respect and co-operation with each other.

Check out the Events Gallery to see a few images from the day.
